'F' as in Frank

Find your inner 'beast mode'

It's been almost a week and even now I can't get Seattle Seahawk Marshawn Lynch's stumbling, rumbling, 67-yard touchdown run out of my head.

He shed eight blockers, but he didn't do it alone. As amazing as that run was, the replays show the entire offense downfield blocking in front and even behind him.

Even the fragile Hasselbeck threw a block inside the Saint 20-yard line.

It was a great moment made possible by a team effort and not giving up on the play when it seemed like Lynch was wrapped up.

I think it's an inspiring reminder for all of us in 2011 to dream big no matter the odds and be part of a team effort that gets you to your goal.

Lynch calls his game-time mindset "beast mode," and it showed on what many are calling the best playoff run in NFL history.

Not saying we should be stiff-arming each other, of course, but the "beast mode" of determination, drive to reach the goal within a team framework is a good thing.

We see it at work at SHS, where the number of F's have been cut in half and where attendance is showing a marked rise.

We, hopefully, will see it at Sunnyside city hall, where despite union hesitation the city will be open for business five days a week to better serve the public.

We see it in Grandview, where staff is saying no to a cost-of-living salary increase to help the city mind the bottom line.

Personally, I'm seeing it in a small band of pre-teens at our church who want to help the Rotoplast mission provide comfort for those in need of healing. It's a cause the kids decided upon, and from experience I know that when this team gets going it starts what it finishes.

The spiritual impact of God working through a team is incredible. I also have seen that in our church's children's ministry, which recently marked the milestone of reaching its 100th kid for Christ.

Back in the football world, though, I don't know what will happen this Sunday. The Seawhawk magic ride might end. Or just the opposite might happen and Seattle's improbable run continues to the NFC championship game.

Whichever scenario plays out, I'm gonna remember Lynch's "beast mode" miracle from last week...and look forward to even more team efforts in 2011 in my church, family and community.
