Grandview man arrested after high-speed chase

GRANDVIEW - A Grandview man is in custody today after leading police on a chase that reportedly reached speeds up to 110 miles per hour.

It all started yesterday, Thursday, with an attempted traffic stop near Grandview on Euclid Road.

The Grandview Police Department and Yakima County Sheriff's office took the lead on the chase, which lasted nearly an hour and ended up in the Alderdale area.

This morning, Grandview police are reporting that Israel Lupercio, 39, of Grandview is being held on a requested charge of felony eluding. In addition, police report that Lupercio also faces a warrant from Yakima County's Department of Corrections.

"As soon as all reports come in from assisting agencies, the prosecutor will make a determination of additional charges, if any," says Mark Ware, Grandview's assistant police chief. "An adult female subject was taken into custody as well - a passenger in the vehicle - but there has been no determination of charges on her at this point."

In other activity yesterday, the Grandview Police Department was alerted to a residential burglary in the 1000 block of Viall Road, where a small amount of cash, as well as perfume and a cell phone were reported missing.
