School bell schedule set for 2011-12

Changes are in store for the school start and ending times in the Sunnyside School District.

The Sunnyside School Board last night, Thursday, approved a bell schedule that will reduce the number of bus routes and save the district 200 bus driver hours for the 2011-12 school year.

The new schedules are also intended to reduce traffic congestion.

Among the changes is that the Sunnyside High School and Sun Valley Elementary School hours will be different from each other. That means kindergarten and high school students will no longer need to ride together, as was the case last year.

The changes mean that 12 bus routes will be eliminated from the high school.

The start/end times for schools in the Sunnyside School District will be:

SHS 7:30 a.m./3 p.m. and 7:20 a.m./2:10 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Harrison Middle School, 7:30 a.m./2:20 p.m.

Sierra Vista Middle School, 7:50 a.m./2:20 p.m.

Washington Elementary School, 9:10 a.m./3:40 p.m.

Chief Kamiakin Elementary School, 9:10 a.m./3:40 p.m.

Outlook Elementary School, 8:45 a.m./3:15 p.m.

Pioneer Elementary School, 9:10 a.m./3:40 p.m.

Sun Valley Elementary School, 8:35 a.m./3:05 p.m.
