July weather outlook normal after chilly June

The outlook for July from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center calls for near normal temperatures and near normal precipitation.

Normal highs in Sunnyside for the month of July are 89.4 degrees and normal lows are 56.1 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is .19 inches.

Last month was the third coldest June on record in the Sunnyside area. Average temperatures were 61.4 degrees, which was 5.9 degrees below normal. The coldest June was recorded in 1901 when the average temperature was 61 degrees.

Day time high temperatures in June averaged 75.8 degrees, which was 6.3 degrees below normal. The highest was 89 degrees on June 29. Nighttime low temperatures averaged 47 degrees, which was 5.4 degrees below normal. The low was 38 degrees on June 3.

Precipitation totaled .31 inches during the month of June, which is .79 inches above normal. Since October, the water year precipitation in Sunnyside has been 8.11 inches, which is 2.41 inches above normal.
