Joe Bush, 60, a Walla Walla resident, passed from this life on Monday, June 27, 2011, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

He was born Oct. 19, 1950 in Sunnyside to E.C. "Clarence" and Helen (Berry) Bush.

Joe grew up in Mabton, and graduated from Mabton High School in 1969. He received his B.S. from Oregon Institute of Technology in 1974 and later received his masters degree from the University of Idaho in 1995.

Joe and his high school sweetheart, J. Kathryne "Kattie" (Sharpe), were married on June 26, 1971. They were together for their 40th anniversary in the hospital.

Joe and Kattie lived in Oregon and later in Sunnyside, until 1984, when they moved to Walla Walla.

Joe was employed by Walla Walla Community College, Baker Boyer Bank and most recently the Columbia County Farm Bureau (AgLink).

Joe loved the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing.

He and Kattie took several trips on their motorcycle to various states and Canada. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

Joe was a longtime believer in Jesus Christ as his Savior and was an active member and ministry leader at Trinity Baptist Church, his church of more than 26 years. He led small groups, and trained many other ministry leaders over the years.

Joe is survived by his life-long love, Kattie, daughter of LeRoy and Juanez (Harris) Sharpe; his daughter, Sarah (Brandon) (Bush) Johnson; his son, Jacob (Natalie 'Nemec') Bush; his brother, Rodney Bush of Yuma, Ariz.; his sister, Phyllis (Bush) Sterbenz of Yakima; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen (Berry) Bush of Yakima; and his brother, Jerry Bush of Liberty Lake.


Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 595 Abbott Road, Walla Walla, with public viewing at 10 a.m. prior to service. A private family burial will follow the service.
