Bernadine Claire Caufield, 83, of Issaquah passed away on May 22, 2011.

She was born Aug. 13, 1927 in New Rockford, N.D. to William and Doris Haley.

She attended Minot State Teacher Colege.

She married Forrest Caufield. The couple moved to Grandview and lived there from 1959 to 2004.

Bernadine was a teacher for the Prosser School District.

Bernadine loved being a mom and a grandmother. Her passion was spending time with her family and all of her wonderful friends in Grandview.

She was an avid seamstress and had a passion for fashion and dressing up.

Bernadine was always ready for a bridge game. She belonged to three bridge groups. As a matter of fact, she met her husband, Forrest, over a bridge game in college.

Bernadine was a warm and nurturing person. Her three children remember her homemade cinnamon rolls on Saturday mornings and fesh-baked cooking coming out of the oven when we arrived home from school.

She is survived by her husband, Forrest; daughters, Merrilee (Doug) Nelson of Yakima and Susan Caufield of Sammamish; son, Bob (Elaine) Caufield of Bellevue, and their children, Scott, Amanda, and Rachel.

A memorial will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grandview.
