Parkland home razed

Yesterday (Sunday) just after 3 p.m. the Sunnyside Fire Department battled a structure fire in the 100 block of Parkland Drive.

Fire Chief Aaron Markham said the modular home was about 50 percent involved at the time of arrival.

The home was completely razed and is considered a complete loss, he said.

The occupants of the home were not present at the time of the blaze that destroyed the residence, and nearby structures were not damaged.

The fire is still under investigation and estimated monetary damages were not available as of press time.

Markham said there also weren't any injuries as a result of the fire.

Also since last Thursday, Sunnyside firefighters have provided 12 residents medical aid. Of those treated by paramedics, eight were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital by ambulance. Three other patients were transported from the hospital to other medical facilities.

Firefighters, too, provided a resident in the 400 block of West Edison Avenue assistance this past Saturday.
