Sunnyside teenager sentenced to nearly three years in prison for role in gang shooting

YAKIMA - Miguel Acevedo, 18, of Sunnyside was sentenced yesterday, Monday, in Yakima County Superior Court to 31 months in prison after pleading guilty to three charges stemming from a shooting that took place last year.

The Yakima County Clerk's office this morning confirmed that Acevedo plead guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

The clerk's office added it is still to be determined whether Acevedo will get credit for the time already served.

Acevedo was initially charged last June in connection with what police described as a gang-related shooting in Sunnyside. No one was injured in the gunfire.
