Burger wagers will help local girl attend leadership confab in Washington, D.C.

Tonight (Friday) Sunnyside residents will have the opportunity to donate money, while having a bit of fun, to a local youngster wishing to travel to Washington, D.C. for a leadership conference.

Brittan Moore and John Wind will be at El Valle (in the bar area), participating in an eating contest.

Those wanting to help Sierra Vista Middle School student Maribel Estrada travel to D.C. can place a wager on which of the pair can eat a Gabriel Burger the fastest.

"The Gabriel Burger is a very large burger...it's not on the menu, but it's named after El Valle's manager," said Moore.

The burger, with lots of trimmings, contains two beef patties.

In addition, said Moore, there will be a raffle at the event, which is slated for 6:30 p.m. tonight.

The winner of the raffle will get their own Gabriel Burger.

All proceeds will be donated to Estrada to assist with her Washington, D.C. travel expenses.
