The article in the Thursday, June 2, edition of the Daily Sun News was accurate and well written. However, I must point out a few important issues.
First, a small fraction of what I spoke about was included in the article. This is perfectly fine since it would have been impossible to include much more than there was in the story.
Second, I support the legalization of cannabis for adults mainly because of the hemp issue. Hemp is the most versatile cash crop the world has ever known. It has thousands of recognized uses. Everything lumber, cotton and soy can do, it can do better. Hemp also produces four times the amount of fiber per acre than timber land with little to no herbicides or pesticides, and does not get people high.
Lastly, the concerns people have about how cannabis legalization would affect DUI rates, motivation and our children are grossly exaggerated and inaccurate. If you want to see what I have found, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will send you a list of facts that is supported by footnotes. You can check my work yourself.
Much thanks to the Daybreak Rotary for allowing me to be the guest speaker this week.
