Washington Redistricting Commission to host public forum in Yakima on Wednesday

YAKIMA - The Washington State Redistricting Commission is hosting a public forum in Yakima on Wednesday, June 8, beginning at 6 p.m.

The commissioners want to hear how people think the new lines for legislative and Congressional voting districts should be drawn.

Legislative and Congressional redistricting happens just once every 10 years, following the U.S. Census. Washington is gaining another seat in Congress, which means the state will have to form a new Congressional district.

People are asked attend the forum and discuss their ideas or participate by webcast at www.redistricting.wa.gov.

Anyone who wants to attend the forum and needs auxiliary aids or services, including interpretation for languages other than Spanish, should contact Heather Boe at 360-786-0770.

A Spanish language interpreter will be present.
