The community of Sunnyside only has one week left to enjoy the writings of Emma Fierro.
It's sad to see her go, but we at the Daily Sun News understand her desire to complete her college education.
Emma has been a real gem on the staff. She is insightful and talented.
For me, it is a little more personal because, you see, we share the same office space.
After all the years I have worked here, one would think I would grow accustomed to change. I really haven't.
It means another person will have to tolerate my crazy antics. When I am excited, it shows because I get downright giddy about good news. The news may seem trivial to some, but I delight in even small blessings and I want to "share" with others.
I can also be rather cynical about other events or situations and I like to have a sounding board or someone to commiserate with me.
It takes another person with character to put up with me in this way...someone who "gets me."
So far, the two lovely ladies who have claimed the other desk in this space have been able to put up with my antics, but I just don't know how well the next person will be able to do so.
That is why change is difficult for me.
I must admit we have had amazing staff members like Emma pass through our offices. They have all been unique in their own special way, contributing to the "family" something colorful.
So, any reticence I may feel, I am certain will be for naught. Afterall, we are all like a colorful arrangement of flowers...fun and beautiful in our own way.
And, change can be a good thing...stretching us and molding us to become better at who we are.
