It's been several months since the Sunnyside Children's Village branch closed its doors and Lower Valley residents who depended on the organization have had to make do with the changes.
But on Wednesday, June 22, Diane Patterson, Yakima's Children's Village Director, and other guests will be present at a parent meeting to address issues with the Sunnyside facility's closing and other Children's Village related questions.
"This meeting is a chance for them (parents) to voice their concerns and their opinions about it being closed down," said Sandra Raymond, an organizer of the meeting.
Raymond said many Lower Valley parents have had to make regular treks to Yakima for their children to receive vital services that were once available in Sunnyside.
"They're an awesome program," she said. "I'd really hate to see the Lower Valley cut off from them."
This coming Wednesday's meeting will be held at the Sunnyside School District Administration Building at 110 South Sixth Street. The meeting will be held in room 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Raymond invites parents who want to voice their concerns about the closing and parents who have never used Children's Village and do not know what the program can do to help them.
For more information, Raymond asks people to e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
