Michael John Stewart, 59, of Prosser entered into rest on Monday, June 27, 2011, at his home in Prosser.
He was born March 11, 1952 in Richland to Charles and Barbara (Wiltz) Stewart.
He was raised and educated in Grandview. After graduating from Grandview High School in 1970, he traveled to Florida and worked on charter fishing boats. He then moved to Arizona and stayed with friends for a year. He eventually came back to the Yakima Valley and became a journeyman carpenter, working for various contractors.
He attended Columbia Basin College and earned a degree in engineering. He then went to work for the Roza Irrigation District, where he worked for 15 years until retiring in 2010.
Michael and Elizabeth Jones were married on April 15, 1989, in Prosser.
Michael lived life to the fullest. He was a very thoughtful man with a huge heart and had a wonderful sense of humor, always making people laugh. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Michael is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Prosser; sisters, Linda (Jerry) Schiller of Longview, Kathy (Jeff) Fisher of Hawaii and Barbara Johnson of Florida; his nieces and nephews, Greg (Wendy) Schiller, Chrissy (Scott) Swanson and Andrea McCorkle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Valley Life Baptist Church, 609 W. Bonnieview Road, Grandview.
