Diamantina Castaneda, 82, of Mabton passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Yakima Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 20, 1928 in Eagle Pass, Texas, the daughter of Celsa and Dolores (Gil) Castaneda.

Dimantina enjoyed life daily and was a babysitter to many children in the Mabton area.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mabton.

She is survived by one sister, Gunquena Mendez of California; a sister-in-law, Eudelia Castaneda of Hermiston, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.

Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, March 6, 2010, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Monday, March 7, 2011, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mabton, with burial to follow at Mabton Cemetery.
