Two reports of shots fired in Sunnyside

Since last Friday the Sunnyside Police Department has fielded two reports of shots fired.

Just after 11 p.m. Friday two callers reported hearing gunshots in the 2300 block of Yakima Valley Highway. One caller witnessed suspects running in the direction of the McDonald's Restaurant.

The other report, Saturday, was in the area of Columbia and Grandview avenues at about 11:30 p.m. Officers investigating the call were unable to locate evidence of gunfire in the area.

Also reported to police since last Friday were three thefts and two burglaries.

A computer was reported stolen from a home in the 700 block of Cemetery Road yesterday (Sunday) and two gaming systems, as well as soccer equipment were reported stolen from a home in the 600 block of Chestnut Avenue Sunday.

Two of the thefts involved shoplifters in the 2000 block of Yakima Valley Highway and at Walmart yesterday. Another theft at Outlook Elementary School involved a stolen cell phone.

Police also have responded to 10 automatic alarms, five assaults, four domestic violence situations, 11 suspicious activity calls, 14 traffic calls and a report of a wanted person being sighted. Officers have provided four agency assists and served seven arrest warrants.
