Norma Burson, 78, a long-time Sunnyside resident, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Garden Village in Yakima.

Norma was born March 26, 1932 in Mt. Selman, Texas, the daughter of Dave Young and Elise (Hardin) Langford.

She received her education in New Mexico.

On July 5, 1947 she married Jesse Burson in Los Lunas, New Mexico. In 1963 the Burson family moved to the Yakima Valley for five years. They returned to New Mexico for four years until finally settling in the Yakima Valley in 1974.

Norma worked as a CNA for 20 years at Hillcrest Manor and Rehabilitation Center in Sunnyside.

Norma attended the Baptist Church in Sunnyside and Grandview. She enjoyed family and reading.

Norma is survived by seven children, Paula (William) Harrington of Outlook, Walter (Teresa) Burson and Ronald (Wanda) Burson, all of Vancouver, Davey Joe Burson of Spokane, Ann (Rodney) Burkepile of Bremerton, Sally Burson of Bristol, Conn. and Bruce (Cristy) Burson of Moxee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Langford of Bremerton; and one brother, Douglas Langford of Sour Lake, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; daughter, Pamela Sue Burson; and two brothers.

No formal funeral services will be held. Inurnment will be held at Terrace Grove Cemetery and Crematory in Belen, N.M. at a later date.

Smith Funeral Home LTD and Crematory in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
