$450,000 grant will allow Sunnyside to make improvements to lighting in school buildings

Jeremy Hazzard, facilities director at the Sunnyside School District, last week for the Sunnyside School Board listed a number of improvements the Sunnyside School District will be able to complete thanks to a $450,000 grant.

Most of the work will be lighting in various school buildings in the district. The total project will cost $1,016,257, which will be offset by the $450,000 grant. The remaining money will come from the district's capital projects fund.

The improvements are expected to save the school district $55,893 a year in utility costs. This will pay back the cost of the investment in just under nine years.
