Just before 9 p.m. last night (Tuesday) the Sunnyside Police Department received reports of shots fired in the 1700 block of Cascade Way.
Officers responded to the calls and found no one was injured in the shooting incident. Approximately four shots were reported by one of the callers.
The driver of a red Ford Mustang reportedly instigated a confrontation with a juvenile in the area. That driver, identified by witnesses as Victor Herrera, 19, allegedly fired multiple gunshots through the front door of a residence, according to police.
After the confrontation, the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle.
A short while later the Yakima Police Department responded to a theft during which a male juvenile was taken into custody. The youngster is believed to have been an occupant in the vehicle Herrera was driving.
The juvenile is being investigated as such and was booked into juvenile detention, according to Sunnyside police officials.
Just before 6 a.m. today the Mustang was located during a high-risk stop.
Three individuals were taken into custody, say police. They are under investigation at the Sunnyside City Jail.
The investigation is ongoing and Public Information Officer Charlotte Hinderlider said requested charges will be released as they are determined.
Officers have also since yesterday responded to two 9-1-1 hang-up calls, an automatic alarm, an animal problem, an assault, a citizen dispute, a domestic violence call, a report of fraudulent activity, a report of harassing text messages, a juvenile problem, four suspicious activity calls, four traffic calls, two vandalism reports, a report of an individual in violation of a no-contact order and three noise complaints. Sunnyside police fielded three informational calls, provided a welfare check and three agency assists, as well as served an arrest warrant.
