Amanda G. Bazan, 72, of Sunnyside passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Kadlec Medical Center, in Richland.

Amanda was born Feb. 6, 1939 in San Juan, Texas, the daughter of Alejandro and Otila (Hinojosa) Gomez.

She had made her home in Grandview, since 1988. Amanda attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. She cherished time spent with her 11 grandchildren. Amanda had a great personality, loved to laugh and joke with everyone, she also enjoyed dancing, family gatherings and time spent with friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Veronica B. (Efrain P.) Chavez of Sunnyside; one son, Reynaldo (Sylvia) Bazan Jr. of Sunnyside; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Maria Magdalena Montalvo of Houston, Texas, Maria Guadalupe Gomez of Sunnyside and Maria Alicia Gomez of Grandview; three brothers, Oscar Gomez of Rio Grande, Texas, Octavio Gomez of McAllen, Texas and Ricardo Gomez of Edinburg, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reynaldo Bazan; and one sister.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011, from 3 to 8 p.m. with recitation of the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
