Sunnyside's St. Joseph Catholic Church's Spring Fest will return next weekend and it will bring a whole host of activities for residents to enjoy, starting with their annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
The tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5.
The tournament will kick off on Saturday with a 6 to 10 a.m. pancake feed. The feed is included in the basketball registration fee for players and a single coach.
The pancake feed for non-players cost $3 for children up to 12 years old and $5 for teens and adults. The feed will include pancakes, orange juice and gourmet drip coffee from Guerra's Coffee Company and is open to everyone.
The kids bracket for the 3-on-3 basketball tournament is open to players ages 7 to 18, with a registration fee of $80 for a team of three to four players.
The adult registration fee is $110.
On Saturday, teams are guaranteed three games. On Sunday, the tournament becomes single game elimination until a winner emerges.
Registration ends today (Friday) at 7 p.m. Registration forms can be picked up from the Sunnyside Community Center at 1521 South Sixth Street, St. Joseph's Parish at 920 South Sixth Street or Guerra's Coffee Company at 1829 South First Street.
Other events during Spring Fest include a host of local entertainment.
On Friday, the Columbia River Chords Men, a barbershop quartet group, will perform at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the Sunnyside middle school bands will perform at 12:15 p.m.
Also on Saturday, the country band Fed-up at Joe's Garage from the Tri-Cities will perform at 1:15 p.m.
A variety of Spanish music will be performed throughout the weekend, including Grupo DEGGE, a tribute to Los Bukies and Spanish grupera music. They will perform at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
After 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, a variety of Spanish music bands will entertain the crowd.
Also on Sunday, at 3 p.m., the Little Miss Spring Fest pageant will be held in the St. Joseph gymnasium.
