Josefa B. "Josie" Salinas, 84, of Prosser passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, in Prosser.

Mom was born April 11, 1927 in Edinburg, Texas.

She married our dad Federico Salinas on June 6, 1947. They celebrated 46 years of marriage prior to dad's passing in 1993.

Mom was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She retired from Twin City Foods in Prosser after more than 30 years.

She enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking for her family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, Juan (Sophia) Salinas of Grandview, Ray (Diana) Salinas of Yakima and Sonny Salinas of Kirkland; three daughters, Rosa (Martin) Ruiz de Equio of Mesa, Olga Rodriguez of Yakima and Emilia Salinas of Richland; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel, 345 N. 11th Street in Sunnyside. Mass of Resurrection will be held Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser, with burial to follow at Prosser Cemetery.
