SELAH - The Selah Police Department fielded a call of a two-car collision last night (Tuesday) at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Officers received a call that two vehicles reportedly collided on SR 823 inside Selah's city limits. Upon arrival officers approached the collision, finding Yakima County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Hagarty, driving a black Chevy pickup. Officers at the scene believed Hagarty was showing signs of being impaired.
Selah Police Chief Stacy Dwarshuis confirmed the incident occurred as a motorist slowed down to make a right hand turn into a residential driveway.
The following vehicle also slowed down, but Dwarshuis said Hagarty still struck the vehicle in front of him.
The department requested assistance from Washington State Patrol officers.
Washington State Patrol Public Information Officer Terry Liebrecht said WSP officers responded and placed Hagarty under custody for investigation of a DUI.
Hagarty was taken to the Yakima County Jail and given a breathalyzer test. Liebrecht said test results are not available for public release. Dwarshuis said no one was injured at the scene and the name of the victim is also not available for release at this time.
