Victory wrestlers capture four titles at Spokane tourney

SPOKANE - Lex Luther, Diego Isiordia, Juan Isiordia Jr. and Josiah Rodriguez each won individual wrestling championships at last Saturday's Spartan Challenge, staged at Spokane's North Central High School.

The four grapplers were among seven of the Victory Wrestling Club members who made the trip to Spokane. The Victory Wrestling Club is based out of the Lower Yakima Valley.

Luther was the 60-lb. champion in the bantam division, for youngsters born in 2004 and 2005.

Diego Isiordia came home with the 75-lb. title in the intermediate division, for youths born in 2002 and 2003.

Isiordia Jr. captured top honors in the 100-lb. weight class in the novice division, for grapplers born in 2000 and 2001.

Rodriguez's championship was earned in the 84-lb. weight class in the schoolboy division, for youths born in 1998 and 1999.

This coming weekend more than 40 Victory Wrestling Club members will attempt to defend the team title they won at last year's Rocky Mountain Nationals Predator Championships. The tournament, expected to draw more than 700 competitors, will be staged in the Yakima Valley Sundome.
