Maura Navarro, 86, of Sunnyside passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Maura was born Sept. 25, 1924 in Los-Reyes Mich., Mexico, the daughter of David and Asuncio (Huerta) Rodriguez.

She married Ramon Navarro in Mexico.

Maura moved to California in 1996 and since 1999 has made Sunnyside her home.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.

Maura enjoyed going to church, crocheting and cooking for her family.

She is survived by five daughters, Elvira Navarro and Angelita Navarro, both of Mexico, Teresa Navarro of Grandview, Maria Hernandez Navarro and Rosalba Navarro, both of Sunnyside; four sons, Epitacio Navarro, Francisco Navarro and Pedro Navarro, all of Sunnyside and Ramon Navarro of Grandview; 37 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Antonia Rodriguez, Maria Rodriguez and Carmen Rodriguez, all of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ramon Navarro; two daughters, Alicia Navarro and Inez Navarro; and one son, Jose Luis Navarro.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
