KENNEWICK - Host Kamiakin proved too much for the Sunnyside Lady Grizzly volleyball team in a 3-0 loss last night, Tuesday.
The Braves swept Sunnyside 25-13, 25-13, 25-15.
"The first game they were hitting line shots," said Coach Sandy Jaquish. "We had a tough time with their firepower."
Jaquish said his team was able to gain some momentum against Kamiakin, but not nearly enough to stem the tide.
"When they hit the ball five times and we hit it once you're not going to get far," he said.
Jaquish noted that Kiana Ramos led his team with six kills. "It was probably one of her best hitting nights for only three games," he said.
Other positives for the Lady Grizzlies included team defense.
"I think we played pretty good defense, but when the other team is hitting the ball well it will wear you down," Jaquish said.
Another positive, he added, was that "we got everyone some playing time and everyone contributed."
With Pasco coming to town tomorrow night, Thursday, Jaquish said the goal for Sunnyside (0-11) is to get in a good practice today.
"We're working on all parts of our game," he said.
