ELLENSBURG - A host Ellensburg team that advanced to Regionals last year was no match for the Grandview Lady Greyhound volleyball team, which earned a 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 sweep last night.
In the road win Tuesday, Grandview led throughout.
"We did a pretty good job of staying ahead of them in all of the games," said Coach John La Fever. "With a new line-up we controlled the game pretty well, which is what we wanted to do."
With that said, the Bulldogs did put up a fight as reflected in the final score of each game.
Grandview's edge, said La Fever, was that "our passing was a little bit better than theirs."
He said the grueling five-match tourney in Spokane this past weekend also helped.
"We gained a lot of experience last weekend and that helped sharpen us up," La Fever said.
Taylor Hall led Grandview last night with 16 kills, 10 service points, seven digs and four aces.
The Lady Greyhounds also got a boost from Payton Parrish with six kills, seven blocks and 10 service points while dishing out 22 assists.
Mikaela Espinoza added eight kills for Grandview, and teammate Lexy Valenzuela hustled for eight digs to go with seven service points and four aces.
Grandview (4-1, 8-2) hits the road again tomorrow, Thursday, when it travels to Prosser.
