Extreme cold weather shelter accepting volunteers

The extreme cold weather shelter will soon open at Oasis Community Church in Sunnyside.

Before opening day, procedural trainings will be held for those who wish to volunteer at this year's extreme cold weather shelter.

Training is set for Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 7 to 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5, from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Trainings will be held at the Oasis Community Church, located at 344 N. 11th St. in Sunnyside.

The shelter is set to open its doors Tuesday, Nov. 15, dependant on adequate volunteer staff. Sign-in will being from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and dinner will follow. Breakfast will be served to guests at the shelter at 6:45 a.m. the following morning.

The shelter at Oasis Community Church is set up to hold one family currently but is also committed to helping single people.
