Lady Knights trample Highland

COWICHE - The 1B Sunnyside Christian Lady Knights conquered the 1A Highland Scots last night (Thursday) in a non-league match-up at Highland High School.

The Lady Knights quickly took the lead and dominated game one, winning 25-7.

Highland fought back in the second game, but were still crushed 25-12 in the second stanza.

Sunnyside Christian finished off the Scots in the final game by a decisive 25-16.

"We played well tonight as a team," said Lady Knights Coach Stephanie Dalrymple.

Sunnyside Christian star Alyssa Haak went 20-for-20 serving. Haak also kept the ball alive with 12 digs and 11 assists.

Alexandra Newhouse contributed with eight perfect passes and six digs. Stormee Van Belle went 11-for-12 in serving and spiked the ball for nine kills.

Danika DeGroot was no slouch, going 15-for-16 in serves while providing 11 assists and six kills. Maddy Wavrin supported her team with 11 perfect passes and slammed the ball over the net for seven kills.

The Lady Knights (6-2, 12-2) play their first District playoff game in Goldendale next Thursday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. against Trout Lake/Glenwood. This is a change from the original schedule.

The remainder of the District games will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, in Goldendale.
