Mercado de Grandview grand opening events start Wednesday

GRANDVIEW - The Grandview Market Place underwent new ownership June 1, 2011.

When PND Mercado LLC's ownership was official the company also changed the store's name to Mercado de Grandview, located at 206 N. Euclid St. A series of grand opening events for three weeks has been planned, with the first event set for Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At each of the events two bags of groceries will be given away each hour.

During the all-day event, Sept. 14, attendees can expect numerous happenings. Activities include a live remote radio station, bouncy house, face painting, hula hoop contest, watermelon eating contest, three-point shot contest, a ring toss and much more in and outside of the store building. In addition to the various activities and competitions, two free bags of groceries will be given away each hour.

The next grand opening event is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. At this event the store plans to hold an outdoor tent sale along with a hot dog barbecue. In addition to the festivities and sales a mariachi band is scheduled to perform for a portion of the day.

The final grand-opening event is set for Saturday, Oct. 1, with a live remote radio broadcast, an outdoor tent sale and a hot dog barbecue. This day's event is also scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

From Sept. 14 through Oct. 1 there is a chance to enter to win a $500 shopping spree sponsored by Western Family. Participants can enter as many times as they enter the store. The drawing will be held Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. Entrants must be present to win. Also, the store is planning to give away additional items through the three-week grand opening.
