PASCO - The Sunnyside Christian Lady Knights went up against home team Tri-Cities Prep last night and won in four.
The Lady Knights lost the first game 25-16, but came back and won the final three 25-21, 25-13, 25-21.
"We couldn't get into control of the first game," said Sunnyside Christian Coach Stephanie Dalrymple. "I told the girls before the second game that we needed to just play Knight volleyball and not worry about anything else. The rest of the match we were in control and played great volleyball."
Senior Alyssa Haak led Sunnyside Christian, going 22 for 22 in serves with 16 assists. Sophomore Stormee Van Belle went 12 for 12 in serves and had eight kills. Juniors Alexandra Newhouse and Danika DeGroot each went 12 for 14 in serves. Newhouse also made 12 perfect passes and DeGroot had nine assists. Sophomore Brittany Broersma had eight kills, while senior Maddy Wavrin recorded six kills and also made 21 perfect passes.
Says Dalrymple, "We knew that they would come out and fight us hard tonight, we played tough and fought hard for this victory."
The Lady Knights (3-0) next match has been rescheduled, they will play Zillah's JV squad at Zillah on Monday, Sept. 19.
