Free tutoring available at Sunnyside Community Center

Sunnyside's Promise will be sponsoring free tutoring for children at the Sunnyside Community Center.

Tutoring for reading and math will be available Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.

"Some students in the Sunnyside School District receive an online education and that is why the earlier hours are available," said Robin Barcenas.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for those taking advantage of tutoring services during the earlier sessions.

Also available will be recreational opportunities, open gym time and homework assistance.

For more information, contact Barcenas at the community center or call 830-6483.

The program is being made available through Supplemental Education Services, a federal program under Title I that provides free academic tutoring for students under the No Child Left Behind Act.

Children qualify for the free services if they qualify for free or reduced lunch program.
