Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Dora Vijil, 57, of Sunnyside went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 7, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Dora was born Jan. 24, 1955 in Immokalee, Fla., the daughter of Jose Juan and Virginia (Trevino) Perez.
She graduated from Lynden High School with the class of 1973.
On April 8, 1981 she married Louis Vijil in Sunnyside. Dora loved family gatherings, playing computer games, going for walks, puzzles and cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching movies and listening to music.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mabton.
Dora is survived by one son, Rudy Garcia (Christina Rodriguez) of Eugene, Ore.; three daughters, Stephanie Vijil and Monica Vijil (Javier Navarrete) of Mabton and Gloria Vijil (Noel Moncivaiz Jr.) of Sunnyside; nine grandchildren and two on the way; three brothers, Alfred Perez, Ricky Perez and Peter Perez; five sisters, Lupe Garcia, Frances VanDiest, Rosa Bazaldua, Justa Juarez and Stella Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Vijil; parents, Jose Juan Perez and Virginia Perez; one sister, Justa Perez; and five brothers, Juan Perez, Tino Perez, Paul Perez and John Perez.
Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
