With spring off to a slow start, the ladies 18-hole golf group at Sunnyside's Black Rock Creek Golf Course finally got to play under sunny skies this past Tuesday. And, the quality of play reflected the favorable weather.
The Tuesday, April 10, play of the day was "Low Putts." Needing just 32 putts to get around the course, Sunnyside's Carol Monholland bested the field. Prosser's Maryanne Currier was nipping at her heels, though, needing just 33 putts to complete her round. Finishing third with 35 putts was Wanda Stokes of Sunnyside.
The women's group recorded two birdies on Tuesday...one by Monholland on Black Rock Creek's toughest rated hole, the par-5, dogleg right sixth; the other by Sunnyside's Sharon teVelde, that coming on the par-3 ninth.
Several of the golfers also notched chip-in shots from off the green. Accomplishing that feat were Currier on No. 5, Mary Ann Bliesner of Sunnyside on No. 6, Rose Fleming of Sunnyside on No. 14, and Grandview's Karen Gustafson, also on No. 14.
