Spaghetti feed to benefit 'Keith's Battle' April 20

Sunnyside's Keith Hernandez, a veteran of the war in Iraq, is facing the toughest battle of his life.

Hernandez is a U.S. Marine and the nephew of Sgt. Olie Hernandez of the Sunnyside Police Department. As it turns out, the military veteran's service in the Marines helped him prepare for his latest battle.

Like his brother Richard, Keith has been deployed to fight cancer. Richard was diagnosed with testicular cancer last September and is now in remission.

Keith now has been diagnosed with the same cancer and faces multiple rounds of chemotherapy, as well as other cancer treatments.

To help him with the battle the Sunnyside Police Department will be hosting a spaghetti feed fundraiser on Friday, April 20, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sunnyside Community Center.

The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 and under.

The community is urged to "battle alongside him."

Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so at the Sunnyside Police Department.
