Local treasure

I would like to take the time to recognize one of our valley's treasures. Her name is Tammy Silva, she was an employee at Darigold and ran the Dairy Fair.

Here is the story...the Sunnyside Fire Department decided to start an annual breakfast for the community to bring people to the fire station and to fundraise for equipment needed for our fire department. None of us had any clue how to get started. The fire department got a hold of Tammy's name and called her for some suggestions for help.

Tammy, being the person that she is, jumped into action and pretty much set up our breakfast for us. Tammy helped pick our menu, ordered the food and stored it for us. She let us do the breakfast first and then pay her for the food.

Tammy and a friend came down the morning of our breakfast at 5 a.m. even though they did not have to, just to make sure that everything went ok and to help serve.

That was a few years ago and she has been helping with our breakfast ever since. Now that the Dairy Fair is closing, Tammy will be moving on to other things. My hope is that Tammy will find an opportunity to stay in Sunnyside so that our fine community will benefit from her spirit and enthusiasm.

P.S. Tammy helped set up our own Sisco Foods account so we can still use our same supplier, and she offered to continue coming to the breakfast to help us.

Thank you Tammy for all your years of service to the Sunnyside community from all the guys at the Sunnyside Fire Department.
