MABTON - In Tuesday's SCAC East League girls track and field meet, Mabton lost to Wahluke by a final score of 63-24.
Despite sustaining the defeat, Mabton freshman Alyssa Nash had three first-place finishes, while teammate Elena Rodriguez earned second place honors in three events.
"Elena's three second place honors earned the girls team nine points and places her just one point shy of earning her varsity letter," said Coach Scott Sexton.
In the shot put, Nash threw 24-2 while Rodriguez threw 22-0.
In the discus, Nash threw 64-2 and Rodriguez earned second place honors with a throw of 58-3.
Nash threw 64-1 in the javelin compared to Rodriguez's throw of 46-8.
"Although these were not Alyssa's best throws, she is improving each week and showing future talent in the three events," said Coach Sexton. "Elena also continues to improve and I look forward to seeing what the girls do by the end of the season."
Wahluke fell to Kiona-Benton 101-30 on the other side of the double dual meet.
Mabton will be hosting the Bob Summer's Invite Thursday, April 19.
"We would like to invite the community to come out and volunteer for events as we always can use extra hands," said Coach Sexton.
