MOXEE - The Grandview Greyhound boys track team saw two outstanding performances from senior Daniel Lara at yesterday's meet against East Valley, Wapato and Ellensburg.
Though Ellensburg athletes dominated yesterday, Lara brought a bright spot to the Greyhounds as he finished first in the long jump and triple jump events.
Lara leaped into first place honors in the long jump (18-4) and in the triple jump with a 39-5 effort. He also notched third place honors in the 400 meter race in 53.86 seconds behind Wapato senior Ignacio Ibarra, who clocked 23.07.
Adding to the highlights, in the 3200 meter race three Greyhound boys finished with first, second and third place honors. Greyhound Jose Velazquez was first to cross the finish-line in 10:59.30, followed by teammates Carlos Ochoa, who marked a time of 11:11.60 and Alex Soberanes, who clocked 11:16.90.
Velazquez also earned fourth place honors in the 1600 meter race with a time of 4:55.96 behind first place finisher Jeffrey Ott of Ellensburg (4:37).
Grandview boys Dameon Garza, Andy Rodriguez, Angel Abarca and Don Munoz earned third place honors in the 100 meter relay, clocking 47.80.
No other Greyhounds scored in the top three at yesterday's meet.
Finals scores for the event were not yet compiled. The Greyhounds next compete tomorrow (Saturday) at the Prosser Invitational.
