Frank Joe Galaviz Jr., 61, of Sunnyside, our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend joined his father and brother in heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 23, 2012, suddenly after a long illness at Regency Rehabilitation Center in Renton.

Frank was born April 9, 1951 in Toppenish to Frank and Phyllis Galaviz.

He attended Toppenish schools until the 11th grade, but had to drop out to help support the family financially due to his mom's illness.

He worked as a farm laborer for many years. He then tried to finish his education in Pullman making him a diehard WSU Cougar fan.

He was a man of many talents having various jobs throughout his life such as a taxi driver, arcade manager and vacuum cleaner salesman. Later he became self employed cleaning carpets.

Frank had a heart for driving many friends and relative to their various appointments.

He loved golfing with his brothers, playing pool and spending time with his family, who were dear to his heart.

Attending any and all family events, you could always see Frank on the dance floor. He also fascinated his nieces and nephews with his UFO stories.

Frank is survived by his mother, Phyllis Aguilar of Mabton; son, Jakes of Sultan; his companion of 33 years, Margaret Shelton; four brothers, Richard of Tacoma, Tony (Leanne) of Toppenish, Steve (Marie) of Tukwila and Valentino (Julie) of Burien; five sisters, Diana (Ricardo) of Benton City, Sara of Sunnyside, Vickie (George) of San Antonio, Texas, Lily (Leo) of Sunnyside and Angie (Dan) of Grandview; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; brother, Rene; and grandparents, Mike and Graciela Hernandez and Cristino and Mary Galaviz.

Frank had a big heart and a great sense of humor. The last few weekends of his life, he was able to go outside and enjoy the sunshine which he had longed to do.

Frank will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mabton Grace Brethren Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Mabton Grace Brethren Church.
