MATTAWA - The Mabton Lady Vikings softball team scored a much needed twin victory over Wahluke at yesterday's doubleheader match-up.
The visiting Lady Vikes started off strong in the first game, securing 20 runs on four hits with just one error for a 20-7 victory.
Mabton's Lupita Urbina struck out seven Wahluke players in the opener.
Lady Vikings Maricela Chavez (1-for-2 with three walks) Isabella Ahumada (2-for-3 with 2 walks) and Sonya Alvarez (1-for-1 with two walks) had strong showings at the plate.
In the second game Lady Viking Jazzee Sustaita bested her pitching counterpart, Urbina, striking out a whopping 10 Wahluke players in the 20-0 win by Mabton. Sustaita also went 2-for-3 batting with two walks and one home run.
Adding to the 20-0 victory were Mabton players Chavez, who went 2-for-4 batting with one walk, Jesenia Meza, who was also 2-for-4 at the plate with one walk, Rosana Montes, who went 1-for-3 at bat with one walk, Tracy Vargas, who was 2-for-3 with one walk and Magna Fernandez, who was 1-for-2 batting with two walks.
The Mabton Lady Vikings softball squad (3-4, 4-6) is next scheduled to host Ki-Be this Friday, April 27, at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader league match-up.
