Greyhound boys eighth

ELLENSBURG - Grandview High School's Herman Herrera led the Greyhound boys track team to eighth place out of the 12 teams that showed at this past Saturday's Keith Jewett Invitational hosted by Ellensburg.

Starting the meet out strong, Herrera crossed the finish line first in the 100 meter race in 11.54. He also nabbed fourth place honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.29.

In addition, Herrera led the charge in the 4x100 meter relay along with Angel Abarca, Jose Castiellja and Andy Rodriguez. The team of four finished with second place honors with a time of 45.44.

Other Grandview teammates who had strong showings at the meet included Abarca, who finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.37. He also contributed to a fifth place finish in the 4x400 relay along with teammates Andy Rodriguez, Don Munoz and Daniel Lara. The four finished the race with a time of 3:47.75.

Grandview boys finished eighth overall with a team score of 47.5. Prosser boys earned first place honors at the invitational with a team score of 117.

The Greyhounds are set to host Toppenish, Othello and East Valley this Wednesday, May 2.
