Health, food and fun were the three main ingredients at yesterday's (Wednesday) health fair for local health fanatics.
Free health screenings, free food, free entertainment and even free dental exams were all part of the event held in the Sunnyside Fiesta Food's parking lot.
The fair was hosted by Sunnyside Community Hospital, Fiesta Foods and the Lions Club, and the trio brought out nearly 30 vendors to participate in the event.
Sunnyside's Lower Valley Crisis and Support Services' Rosalinda Alvarez says events like these are extremely helpful for local agencies to get the word out about the services offered.
"It allows us to be able to reach out to the community and let those who don't know about our (agency) learn about what we do," she said.
Event organizer Patricia Combs agrees, noting the free health screenings offered by the Northwest Lions Foundation offered a service that some may not receive if it weren't for events like these.
"Sometimes children get missed when it comes to these kinds of screenings but the children can get the proper treatment before school starts," she added.
In addition, Combs said the event promoted health and education.
"It's the baseline of our community," she said. "It's a really good thing for the community."
