Jewell Darlene Chambers McMorris, 69, a former Sunnyside resident, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012.

She was born in Prineville, Ore. to Joel and Dorothy Chambers. She lived most of her life in the state of Washington; in Sunnyside, Seattle, Yakima, Walla Walla, then in Wailuku, Hawaii and Auburn, before retiring to Brewster/Bridgeport.

She graduated from Sunnyside High School in Sunnyside in 1960.

She married Tony E. McMorris in 1963 at the First United Methodist Church in Seattle.

She graduated from beauty school in Seattle and worked as a beautician before the arrival of their first son. She was a full-time mother until all three of her sons were in school and she went to work in a small office in Yakima. She then worked in the office of three construction companies in the Seattle area until she retired in 2002.

She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Sunnyside.

Survivors include her husband Tony; her children, Larkin (Lennie) (Janice) McMorris, Heath (Ika) McMorris and Bart (Annette) McMorris; grandchildren Ryan McMorris, Joshua McMorris, Elijah McMorris and Jacqueline Wilson; her mother, Dorothy M. Chambers of Auburn; her sisters, Jean Chambers Robertson of Corvallis, Ore., Beth Stevens of Chandler, Ariz. and Oleta Niderost of Sedro Woolley; two brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joel G. Chambers, in 1983.

Memorial services to honor Jewell will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Covington, followed by a reception at the home of her oldest son.
