Mabel Arlene Brumback, 86, a lifetime Sunnyside resident, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in Sunnyside. Mabel was born June 13, 1926 in Sunnyside, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Reynolds) Bruce.
She received her education in Grandview and graduated with the class of 1943.
On Aug. 18, 1946 Mabel married Clyde Brumback in Grandview. Following their marriage the Brumback family lived in Sunnyside until 1952. From 1952 to 1955 the family moved throughout Washington and Oregon due to Clyde's employment with PP&L before settling in Sunnyside in 1955.
Mabel worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Glenn Rasmussen Construction and later retired in 1982 from Yakima Federal Savings and Loan.
She was a member of Sunnyside Eastern Star and daughters of the Nile El Shelom Temple of Yakima.
Mabel loved to round dance and square dance, golf, fish, hunt, crochet, knit and travel in their motor home throughout the U.S and Alaska. She also liked playing bingo and annual trips to Reno.
Mabel was known for her Christmas candy that she shared with family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Larry) Kirk of Wenatchee; one son, Clyde "Buzz" (Kim) Brumback of Selah; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Heath of Sumner, Beverly (Lloyd) Henry of Colville and Jonnie (Jerry) Rogers of Selah; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Brumback; two brothers, Robert Bruce and Glenn Bruce; and three sisters, Frances (Paul) Cheek, Winnie (Al) Emerson and Julia (Kenneth) Daily.
The family wishes to "Thank" all of the staff at Sun Terrace in Sunnyside and Lower Valley Hospice for their love and wonderful care they gave to our mom.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Sunnyside Masonic Lodge.
