MABTON - Mabton police officers fielded a call reporting a burglary in broad daylight this past Tuesday afternoon.
Officers rushed to a residence in the 500 block of C Street at around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday to investigate the issue. The method of burglary, officials say, was forced entry.
"They used a crowbar to break into the front door," Mabton Sergeant Cas Cedillo said.
The crowbar, police say, was left at the scene. Coupled with evidence of fingerprints that officers found on the crowbar along with witness statements from area residents, officers were able to identify three suspects in the burglary.
In the alleyway of the home of 19-year-old Luis Felipe Cruz of Mabton, officers said they found more than half the items that were taken from the home.
Total loss for the victim, officers say, was around $2,000.
Officers arrested Cruz, Miguel Moreno Jr., 18, of Mabton and a 16-year-old juvenile from Anaheim, Calif. as suspects in Tuesday's burglary.
Officers believe the incident is not gang related and could be a dispute over debts owed.
Police say the victim may know all of the suspects, and may have had a personal conflict with one of them.
The incident is still under investigation and officers urge anyone with further information about the incident to contact the police department at (509) 894-4096.
