ZILLAH - With three players in double figures in the scoring column, the Bickleton High School boys basketball team picked up its second victory of the season last night.
The Pirates' varsity (2-1) took on Zillah's 'C' squad on the Leopards' home court Tuesday evening, and came away with a dominating 67-27 win.
Bickleton's scoring leaders included Taylor Brown with 19 points, and Nathan Powers and Justin Roberts with 15 and 10, respectively. The Pirates also got an eight-point performance from Mitchell Powers, as well as a combined 15 points from Peter Clinton, Kane Lowe, Michael Underwood, Joey Cardenas and Clint Strader.
Bickleton Coach Jerry Roberts was pleased with his team's transition from offense to defense, "...and we were able to utilize our active defense to get some easy buckets."
Roberts also noted his club controlled the boards, grabbing 29 more rebounds than Zillah came away with. The Pirates' top rebounder proved to be the 6-foot, 4-inch Brown, a senior, who snared 26 loose balls.
"Our second line-up played pretty good also," said the BHS coach. "We started to gel as a team."
Bickleton's boys will be at home both this coming Friday and Saturday, entertaining squads from Helix, Ore. and Lyle/Wishram.
