Johnny Oscar Meyer, 70, of Prosser passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012. Johnny was born Feb. 14, 1942 in Granger to Oscar and Elizabeth (Mueller) Meyer. He received his early education in Granger, graduating from Granger High School with the class of 1961.
On Sept 12, 2012 he married his sweetheart of 34 years Bonnie L. Patterson in Prosser.
Johnny loved animals, he ran cattle all over the Yakima Valley for more than 25 years, he also was a commercial fisherman in Alaska during the 60s and 70s.
Johnny enjoyed hunting birds and other game, traveling to his property in Alaska and around the U.S. He was also an avid gardener.
Johnny truly cherished the time he spent watching his boys play sports and the time spent with his family and friends. He loved to reminisce, tell jokes and stories. Johnny never forgot a face and kept track of those he knew and loved, he had many special people in his life that he loved deeply. His family and friends were truly the treasures of his life.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Meyer of Prosser; his sons, Johnny O. Meyer II and Todd P. Meyer, both of Prosser; his siblings, Ted (Ev) Meyer, Carl Meyer, Thelma (Eugene) Fussell, Elma (Don) Puyear, Dorothy Larimore and Helen Winters; and extended family and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elizabeth Meyer; siblings Richard Meyer, Walter Meyer, Rozella Alderman, Irene Arnett and brother-in-law, Dean Larimore.
Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
