Granger hosting Christmas light tour

GRANGER - This holiday season the Granger Chamber of Commerce is again making it easy to check out the city's neighborhood Christmas lights with a bus tour set for next Tuesday, Dec. 11.

The chamber partners with the Granger Community Center and the Granger School District to offer the free bus ride.

Those interested in the bus tour will meet at the Granger Community Center, 100 Sunnyside Ave., at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday. The tour will last approximately one hour.

Carl Hurlburt with the chamber says the tour, which is conducted on a Granger school bus, serves a couple of purposes.

On one hand it's a help for those who would prefer not - or are unable - to drive at night. At the same time, Hurlburt adds, it encourages Granger residents to light up their houses.

Following the bus tour, riders will return to the community center to enjoy cocoa and cookies and vote for the homes they feel are the best decorated.

The four top vote-getters each receive a $25 prize.

"It's an incentive to get people to decorate their homes, and it's a little thank you," Hurlburt says of the prizes.
