Girl struck by Sunnyside motorist early this morning

At approximately 7 a.m. this morning (Monday) Sunnyside police rushed to the scene of a traffic accident involving a child that was struck by a vehicle at South 16th Street and East Edison Avenue.

The child was walking to Sunnyside High School. She was in the crosswalk when another student driving to school struck her.

It is believed frosted windows contributed to the driver being unable to see the pedestrian.

The girl was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital for treatment for her injuries, which police say could include head and neck injuries.
