Sunnyside science teacher earns place in aerospace course

Teri Alvarez-Ziegler, a science teacher at Sunnyside High School, has been accepted by the Museum of Flight to be an online academic evaluator and a summer residency academic facilitator.

The job runs for the 2012-2013 cycle of the Washington Aerospace Scholars program, a partnership between NASA and the earth and science department of the University of Washington. Washington Aerospace Scholars is an educational program for high school juniors from across Washington state. It includes an online curriculum and a six-day summer residency.

Alvarez-Ziegler is one of 16 teachers state-wide to be accepted into the program, and one of only two science teachers accepted from the Lower Yakima Valley.

This year's mission title is "Mars or Bust!"
